Students who hold X1 Visa must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days of entry. It is not necessary for holders of X2 Visa whose days of visa validity is longer than his study period to apply for Residence Permit. International students who have already stayed or will stay in China for more than 6 months are required to apply for a Residence Permit.
To apply for the Residence Permit, students must first submit the following documents to International Office:
1. Students who apply for the Residence Permit for the first time are required to provide:
(1) the Admission Notice,
(2) JW201/JW202(original and copy),
(3) Health Certificate certified by International Travel Healthcare Center of Chongqing Exit-Entry Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (original and copy),
(4) Accommodation Certificate from the local police station (original and copy),
(5) One passport size photo together with a receipt taken from licensed photo studios.
2. Students who transfer to Chongqing Normal University with Residence Permit should provide the copy of Transfer certificate given by their original school, apart from the required documents stated in Item 1.
3. Students who apply for the extension of Residence Permit are required to provide:
(1) Accommodation Certificate from the local police station (original and copy)
(2) One passport size photo together with a receipt taken from licensed photo studios.
(3) Attendance records for the latest 6 months provided by the cultivating school;
How to apply for a Residence Permit:
Step 1: Applicants go to the local police station where students' residence place under its jurisdiction to get the Foreigner Accommodation Registration Certificate with Application Form given by International Students Office.
Step 2: Applicants go to the International Travel Healthcare Center of Chongqing Exit-Entry Inspection and Quarantine Bureau for the physical examination or verification of physical examination record and get the Health Certificate.
Step 3: The applicant will take a photo in the licensed photo studios and get the receipt.
Step 4: Submit the tuition fee receipt (required for self-founded students), passport, the Foreigner Accommodation Registration Certificate, Health Certificate (original and copy) ，one passport size photo together with a receipt taken from licensed photo studios and Attendance Record for the latest 6 months to the International Students Office. The Admission Notice, JW201/JW202(original and copy), and Transfer certificate are also needed for first time application.
Step 5: The International Students Office registers their information and produces the Residence Permit Application Form and Letter with stamps for the students.
Step 6: Applicants go to the Exit-Entry Administration Office of Chongqing Public Security Bureau to apply Residence Permit and bring back the Residence Permit Progress Notes.
Step 7: The applicant may call the phone number shown on the receipt to inquire about how the extension is processed; if the extension is done, the applicant shall hold a UnionPay debit card to the Exit-Entry Administration Office of Chongqing Public Security Bureau for payment of the processing fee, and then receive the passport. (It costs about 400-800 yuan and takes about 20 days.)
Health Certificate
New students who have their Health Certificate (photo on the physical examination form must be stamped on the perforation) issued outside China should submit it to the International Students Office and have it verified by the International Travel Healthcare Center of Chongqing Exit-Entry Inspection and Quarantine Bureau and get Health Certificate if passing the verification.
Students who do not take medical examination before entry and cannot meet the requirements must take the medical examination (the total cost is around 400RMB) offered by the International Travel Healthcare Center of Chongqing Exit-Entry Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in order to obtain Health Certificate.
Note: Take passport and 2 passport size photos and keep stomach empty before taking the medical examination.
